This range is constantly growing and nowadays you can even buy decorative lamps as smart lamps. For example, we now have LED light bulbs (LED filament) as smart bulbs and even smart designer bulbs.

What are smart lights?

Smart lights are smart bulbs that you can control remotely. In addition to turning them on and off, you can think about changing color (temperature), dimming the lamp and setting time schedules. Lamps that can take on all colors are called RGB. This allows you to create completely different atmospheres.

With time schedules, you can turn on a smart bulb at a certain fixed time so you don't have to think about this anymore. It can also provide extra security when you are not at home yourself.

How does smart lighting work?

Controlling smart lighting is getting easier and easier. Nowadays, you can control most smart lights with an app via Wifi. Like the Smart Home bulbs from Calex. You simply screw the bulb into the socket, download the manufacturer's app and connect to the wifi in your home or building. Then it is even possible to control the lamps via your voice. For example, with your phone, Google Home and Alexa.

If you prefer not to control your lamps with your phone, it is also possible to control the lamps via a remote control from the manufacturer.

Which Smart lamp to choose?

When choosing a smart bulb, it is best to go through the following steps beforehand:

  1. Choose the right socket. When replacing a bulb, it is important that you choose the same fitting. The most common are the large E27 fitting and the small E14 fitting. In addition, we currently have a Smart spot with GU10 fitting. You can also use the filter to find lamps with the right socket.
  2. Choose the lamp shape as desired. Pick a lamp shape that best fits the lamp holder. For example, go for a standard pear or go for more decorative shapes like the Globe lamp or Edison lamp.
  3. Choose the lamp with the right shade. Right now you can choose from Smart lamps with frosted glass, clear glass, gold tinted glass and smoke glass. Lamps with gold and smoke glass are ideal for decorative applications. Clear and frosted glass lamps are better for functional applications.
