Pay attention to this when you buy a B15d halogen tube lamp

B15d halogen bulbs come in different wattages. Check carefully on the fixture what the maximum wattage is. A lower wattage is no problem, but preferably do not go higher than what the lamp holder can handle.

Also pay attention to dimmability. Most b15d bulbs are dimmable, but not all are. If a bulb is dimmable, it will be listed by the product name, next to the wattage.

What is a B15d socket?

A B15d fitting is a lamp socket with a diameter of 15 mm and two contact points. The number '15' stands for the diameter of the fitting (15 mm) and the 'd' stands for 'double contact bayonet' (the two contact points). A characteristic feature is the bayonet fitting that is screwed into the lamp holder.

What is the difference between a b15d fitting and a ba15d fitting?

Basically, there is no difference between a b15d fitting and a ba15d fitting. However, it is believed that the "A" in BA15d stands for "Automotive" and thus would be suitable for vehicles. But the fittings are the same. So a BA15d fitting can also be found in the home. The main feature is the diameter of 15 mm and that you screw the bulb into the holder with a bayonet connection.
